Amboseli is one of the great places where nature lovers can explore five different habitats here ranging from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli, wetlands with sulphur springs, the savannah and woodlands. - It has been crowned home of the african elephant: Amboseli National Park is the stronghold of East Africa’s elephant population. Over 1600 individuals roam the wetlands, savannah and woodlands that make up this diverse and unique ecosystem.
- The sunset: The sunset at Amboseli is like giant, fiery balls in the skies, bathing endless savannah in myriad shades of gold. The air itself shimmers in the heat of the setting sun. Giving the entire scene a fairytale look, so recognisable, yet so exotic at the same time.
- Rich birdlife consisting of 600 species: Amboseli is a good birding destination and around 600 species have been recorded there. The swamps are great for water-associated birds such as egrets, herons, pelicans and crowned cranes.Large numbers of flamingos may be present in the wet seasons (march to May and October to december). The grasslands areas offer some interesting ground birds such as hartlaub’s bustard and the localized pangani longclaw.
- Wildlife: Amboseli is one of Kenya’s most popular parks, and offers great wildlife viewing. Most big safari animals can be spotted here. Black rhino has become extinct, but the other four of the Big Five are present. The plains support an abundance of large herbivores including wildebeest, Burchell’s zebra, Grant’s, Thomson’s gazelle, Leopard, Cheetah, Wild dogs, Buffalo, Elephant, Giraffe, Zebra, Lion, Crocodile, Mongoose, Hyrax, Dik- dik, Lesser Kudu, and Nocturnal Porcupine
